Monthly Stewardship Crew – Portal Ridge Volunteer Day

  • Portal Ridge Wildlife Preserve 195th St West Trailhead United States (map)

Come join us to care for the places we love.

You are invited to join our monthly stewardship crew, where our hands-on conservation work happens! Help us protect and care for our Mojave Desert by reducing hazards for wildlife, improving habitat connectivity, and supporting long-term land stewardship.

You’ll work alongside Transition Habitat Conservancy staff while learning about these amazing lands and the people, plants, and animals that make them special.

What to Expect

No experience is needed. We will provide tools and gloves, though you are welcome to bring your own. Please be aware that our projects sometimes involve strenuous work in difficult terrain and can involve up to a 1.5-mile hike to the work site.

What to Bring

  • Sturdy shoes and clothes for outdoor work

  • Work gloves (optional — tools and gloves will be provided)

  • Plenty of water and snacks

  • Sun protection

Citizen Science

We encourage volunteers to collect iNaturalist observations and data while they are out with us! Each season provides different opportunities for various bird and plant observations.

For more information, feel free to reach out to Vern Biehl at vern@transitionhabitat.org

Please sign up below so we have a head count. Your time helps protect and care for these lands, and we look forward to seeing you out there and growing our impact together.
