Monarch Butterfly Migration Mapping and Waystation Open House
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, we hosted a family-friendly Monarch Migration & Butterfly Event at Transition Habitat Conservancy. The event welcomed community members of all ages to learn about these vital pollinators and their incredible migration journey.
Interactive Learning & Displays
Attendees explored our Discovery Center, featuring live host plants, caterpillars, and chrysalis displays. It was a hands-on experience, allowing visitors to see monarchs up close, learn about their life cycle, and understand why they’re so important to our ecosystems.
Expert Planting Demo
From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Greg Charpentier, a veteran gardener with 35 years of experience, led a planting demonstration. He shared tips on creating butterfly-friendly gardens at home, inspiring everyone to help support monarch habitats locally.
Self-Guided Nature Hike & Educational Talks
Guests enjoyed exploring trails at their own pace and attended educational talks about native milkweed, monarch migration, and how community science can make a difference. Gina Charpentier shared her expertise on monarch tagging and OE monitoring, illustrating how everyone can contribute to conservation efforts.

Community Contribution & Giveaway
Participants who signed up for the Monarch Migration Mapping project received three one-gallon milkweed plants—a $36 value—while supplies lasted. These native plants will help create vital habitat and support monarchs during their long migration.
