Transition Habitat Conservancy is a grassroots, non-profit organization that focuses on land acquisitions and habitat stewardship in the West Mojave. With the support of the local community, a dedicated board and staff, and successful partnerships with local, state and federal agencies, THC has acquired over 7,000 acres of important habitat and works to improve thousands of additional acres in Southern California.

Protecting transition zones with elevational gradients, such as where the desert floor integrates with the mountain slope, may provide climate refugia opportunities for species of the desert.
