Join us on the 1st Saturday of every month (excluding inclement weather) to care for the Portal Ridge Wildlife Preserve. The Preserve spans almost 6,000 acres in Northern LA County, and is home to rolling mountain foothills, desert springs, Joshua tree woodlands, and fields of California poppies in the spring.
If your passion is nature, conservation, and enjoying outdoor spaces, please come and join us for a variety of activities including: trail maintenance, habitat clean-ups, fire mitigation, and more!

This month, we will be working Saturday and Sunday the 6th and 7th. Volunteers can participate one or both days. Saturday night campers welcome.
We will meet both days at 9:00am at the 195th st trailhead. Come prepared to work on backcountry trails in steep terrain. There will be approximately 1 mile of uphill hiking to reach the job site. Bring water, lunch, gloves etc. the conservancy will provide dinner at 4:00pm. Please let us know if you are staying for dinner so we have enough food.
Because the terrain, projects, and weather varies, please check in with our Preserve Manager, Vern Biehl for each month’s project here: Vern@transitionhabitat.org.
We hope to see you there!
