California Biodiversity Week

  • Portal Ridge Trailhead 34.728471, -118.479389 Fairmont / Lancaster, CA 93536 United States (map)

Come Celebrate California’s Biodiversity With Us!

WHAT

See moths, beetles, and more like never before with live macro photography projected in vivid detail by @TekksTreks.

Featuring a “Constellation Station” to learn about constellations and planets.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We will document species on iNaturalist throughout the evening. Take a sunset hike, get inspired to start a nature journal, and later enjoy the lighted stations after dark as we attempt to attract moths, beetles, and more for our iNat observations!

Come prepared with plenty of snacks and water. This is a remote location. Dry camping is available. For camping details: 760-868-1400.

IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION

Please park with your headlights facing away from the shelter. When cars leave, oncoming headlights disrupt the telescope and ruin the night-sky viewing. Thank you for helping protect our dark sky observations!

RSVP — LIMITED TO 30 PEOPLE

Attendance is limited to 30 guests, and advance registration is required.
